Parker moves into 10th place as volleyball rolls in Cincy

CINCINNATI – The Heidelberg University volleyball team stayed in the groove on Saturday, sweeping Maryville (Tenn.) and Mount St. Joseph. HU finished play at the Charlie Wrublewski Memorial Tournament with a perfect 3-0 record. The victories extended the Student Prince winning streak to seven.

Heidelberg made quick work of Maryville, defeating the Scots 25-14, 25-12, 25-21. Against the hosts, Heidelberg cruised to a 25-14, 25-15, 25-22 win.

All-American Sarah Parker tallied 21 kills on the afternoon. After attacking at a .567 clip on Friday, Parker hit .500 against Maryville. In her career, Parker has 904 kills and now sits in 10th place on the Heidelberg career list. The junior also added eight blocks on Saturday.

Setter Karlie DiRuzza finished with 52 assists on the day. In her first season as the primary setter for the Tricolor, DiRuzza is among the conference leaders, averaging 9.9 assists per set.

Defensively, libero Rachel Raimondo notched 22 digs on the day and 36 for the tournament. For the season, she has averaged 4.59 digs per set.

After opening up the season with 8 straight matches on the road, Heidelberg will host Defiance on Tuesday. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start.
